The Kobanê Administration held a meeting with the released prisoners to talk about their circumstances and provide for their needs. Speaking at the gathering held in Ronîwar Park, Co-Chair of the Kobanê Administration Ferhan Hec Îsa said: “According to the laws of war, prisoners cannot be subjected to physical or psychological torture. Today we are proud of you because you are among us. Our hope is that our other friends will also be released and return to their mothers and fathers. Your determination and willpower will be written into history and will take its place in the historical cycle of the Kurdish people.”
Speaking on behalf of the released prisoners, Ferhad Kobanê said: “They did not know humanity, but we taught them a little of what humanity is. Because of their ignorance about humanity, many of our friends beside us became martyrs. We will resist to the end; we will protect our prisoners, our people, and our martyrs. No matter what happens, we will not abandon our people or our comrades.”
During the attacks on the regions of Rojava, many people were taken prisoner by the forces of the Syrian Interim Government. However, within the framework of the implementation of the 29 Agreement, three groups totaling 800 people have been released so far.
