The Serêkaniyê Displaced Persons Committee met with Hesekê Governor Nûredîn Ehmed to address the issue of the return of those who were forcibly displaced. During the meeting, practical mechanisms and procedures related to this matter were discussed.
In the meeting, the situation of forcibly displaced people and the obstacles they face in returning were discussed in detail, and proposals were presented to create a suitable environment that would enable a dignified and lasting return in the near future.
The committee presented the residents’ demands regarding the resolution of security issues for the success of the return process, as well as administrative, organizational, and legal matters concerning the governance of the region after the return.
In this context, attention was drawn to the protection of residents’ property rights and ensuring that they can return to their homes and possessions without any obstacles.
Hesekê Governor Nûredîn Ehmed stated that the issue of the return of displaced people is the main topic of the meetings and that it has received significant support. He noted that they are in contact with the parties in Damascus and the presidential team to ensure the success of efforts to reestablish peace.
Nûredîn Ehmed emphasized that these obstacles, especially security-related ones, must be resolved and said that work is ongoing to remove the barriers preventing forcibly displaced people from returning to Serêkaniyê and to take into account the specific conditions of the region.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to continue direct cooperation and communication, to increase joint efforts in the next phase, and to take the necessary measures to prepare suitable conditions for the return of forcibly displaced people to the city center and surrounding villages.
