Despite the two-week ceasefire announced between the United States and Iran, attacks by Iran-backed armed groups in the Kurdistan Region continue.
Drone sounds were heard over Erbil (Hewlêr) on Thursday night. A drone, believed to be preparing for an attack over the city, was shot down by an air defense system.
Throughout the Iran–Israel/US war, the territories of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region have also been targets of attacks. In a statement yesterday, the U.S. State Department announced that it had summoned Iraq’s ambassador to Washington and demanded that the Iraqi government take immediate action against pro-Iranian militias operating in the country.
