The Occupational Health and Safety Observatory (ISIG) released its March 2026 “workplace deaths report.” According to the report, at least 148 workers lost their lives in work-related deaths. Among those who died were 8 children and 15 refugees; 16 were women and 132 were men.
The report, which also listed the causes of death, stated that 24 percent of the deaths were due to traffic or service vehicle accidents, 19 percent due to heart attacks, and 17 percent due to falls from height.
The distribution of deaths by sector was reported as follows: 18 percent in construction and road work, 16 percent in transportation, 14 percent in agriculture and forestry, 11 percent in trade and office work, and 5 percent in mining.
Istanbul was reported as the city with the highest number of worker deaths.
