Yazidi Youth Party established in Shengal

The first congress of the newly founded Yazidi Youth Party began this morning in Hannover Hall in Shengal city under the slogan “Justice, Freedom and Democracy.”

At the congress, attended by 200 delegates and guests, representatives of Yazidi political parties, women’s organizations, the Shengal People’s Assembly, and prominent figures of the Yazidi community were present. The congress was held under the supervision of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq.

In the opening speech, Merwan Xwedêda congratulated the Yazidi people and stated: “At its first congress, we announce the establishment of the Yazidi Youth Party. As a national party in Iraq, it aims to unite voices, strengthen its presence in the political arena, and ensure the protection of the interests of the people and the country through cooperation among all parties. We thank the founders, participants, and all friends who contributed to the establishment of the party. We also express our gratitude to the Electoral Commission’s Political Parties and Organizations Board Branch and the Baghdad Electoral Commission’s Political Parties and Organizations Department for their support in the party’s establishment. We hope that this step will mark the beginning of efforts that will serve our community and preserve its dignity.”

Following the opening speech, the congress council was elected by the delegates. The council presented the political program and the party statute to the delegates, and after discussions, both documents were approved by the members.

Under the supervision of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq, 12 politburo members of the party were elected.

In his closing speech, Merwan Xwedêda stated that the congress was organized in accordance with the guidelines set by the Political Parties Commission and was successfully concluded.

It is expected that the party chairman and deputy chairpersons will be elected in the coming days at the first meeting to be held by the politburo members.
