Mothers for Peace in Iran call for an immediate end to the conflict

A ceasefire had been declared as of yesterday in the war that began on February 28 between the USA/Israel and Iran. However, after Iran’s demand to include Lebanon in the ceasefire was rejected by Israel, the Strait of Hormuz was closed again, and military activity and clashes resumed.

While the risk of escalation continues, the Iranian Mothers for Peace Group issued a statement regarding the threat posed by the USA/Israel–Iran war to the peoples of Iran.

The statement called for the immediate end of the war and a return to a diplomatic solution, stating: “Initiatives must be undertaken within the framework of dialogue and a prepared plan to end the conflicts and establish lasting peace in the region. We emphasize the role of civil society and public participation in building a sustainable peace.”

The statement concluded: “We call on civil and political institutions, as well as artists, academics, human rights defenders, and members of the United Nations Security Council, not to remain silent in the face of the ongoing attacks and the humanitarian consequences they have caused, and to take action to stop the war. The consequences of the war on citizens, especially women and children, are evident. The peoples of Iran are directly affected by this war, and its effects will continue even in the post-war period.”
