The “Freedom for Öcalan Vigil,” launched on 25 June 2012, in Strasbourg, called for the physical freedom of the Kurdish people’s leader and has now reached its 721st week.
Held where the European institutions met, the vigil is carried on each week by Kurds and supporters living in Europe.
This week, responsibility for the vigil was taken over by members of the Democratic Kurdish Society Center (DKTM) from Munich.
The delegation taking over the 721st week included the group spokesperson Sinan Ergen, along with Nurettin Ince and Barış Tuncer.
The activists emphasized that the purpose of the vigil is to secure Öcalan’s physical freedom and called on European public opinion and international institutions to show awareness and sensitivity.
