As part of the investigation into the armed attack that took place on Tuesday, April 7 in front of the Israeli Consulate General in Beşiktaş, five more people were detained.
It was learned that the new detentions were carried out during house raids in Istanbul and Kocaeli. Thus, the number of people detained within the scope of the investigation has risen to 10.
Authorities reported that two of the detainees are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
In the armed attack, two police officers were injured. During the clash, two of the attackers were captured wounded, while one attacker was killed.
Within the scope of the investigation, it is stated that the attackers had links to ISIS.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stated that the attacker who died in the clash was “determined to have connections with an organization that exploits religion.”
In a statement released after the attack, the Ministry of Interior also shared the following information about those connected to the incident:
“It has been determined that Yunus E. S., who was captured dead, had links to a terrorist organization that exploits religion. The other two terrorists captured wounded, Onur Ç. and Enes Ç., are brothers, and it has been determined that Onur Ç. has a record related to narcotics.”
