Thousands head to Halfeti for Amara Days Festival

The Amara Days Festival is being held in Halfeti (Xelfetî) in Urfa (Riha) under the slogan “With the Free Leader toward democratic national unity.” The festival celebrates Abdullah Öcalan’s 77th birthday, thousands of people set out from many different cities.

Before the celebration, arrivals to the district began early in the morning. People who reached the center of Halfeti gathered in 4 April Park and danced halay.

People who set out yesterday from the Çukurova region reached 4 April Park in the morning. While entry to the park had not yet begun, women in particular danced halay accompanied by Kurdish songs, carrying yellow, red, and green flags.

Groups departing from different centers for the festival are expected to arrive in Amara during the day.
