13 citizens killed in Aleppo and Afrin in March

The Afrin–Syria Human Rights Organization released information on violations and crimes committed by the Syrian interim government and groups affiliated with the Turkish state in the Aleppo and Afrin regions in March 2026. The organization stated that 13 citizens were killed in Afrin and Aleppo during that month.

70 people abducted

It was also reported that more than 70 abductions and detentions took place, most of which were connected to Newroz celebrations. In Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood, four young people were also detained.

Theft and looting continue

The organization drew attention to ongoing theft and looting in Afrin carried out by unidentified armed individuals. It was noted that during moments when the public was occupied with Newroz celebrations, homes were entered and belongings were stolen. In the town of Cindirês, 18 sheep, gold, and money were stolen. In the Şiyê district, armed individuals attacked a driver and a married couple.

The Afrin–Syria Human Rights Organization called on the interim government and the Afrin regional administration to fulfill their responsibilities, protect returning civilians, return their property, and put an end to violations against the local population.
