The website Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Prisoners published a report on the situation in Evin Prison. The report stated: “One month has passed since the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran began, yet prisoners are still being held in an uncertain situation. Not only is the safety of prisoners not being ensured, but the monitoring of their legal cases has also been halted.”
According to the report, there is currently no official in Evin Prison assuming responsibility. In recent days, relatives of prisoners who went to the prison for visits reported that the gates were closed and that there was no one available to provide them with information.
The report also noted that families had previously been summoned by the prison administration, but there has still been no clear explanation regarding the reason for those summonses. The absence of prison authorities is increasing serious concerns about the safety of the prisoners.
It is noteworthy that these developments are occurring at a time when granting visitation rights to prisoners had reportedly been on the agenda. However, sources state that the process in question is very limited and would only include a few prisoners. The continuation of the current uncertainty is further increasing concerns about the prisoners’ lives.
