Poet and writer Konê Reş said that the passing of the great poet Ehmed Huseynî is a major loss for Kurdish literature and stated: “He built a bridge between generations and was a pioneering figure who carried modern Kurdish literature into new times. As one of the cornerstones of Kurdish literature, describing him with words will always remain incomplete. After the 1980s, he became one of the pioneers of living a poetic life and existing through poetry. He expressed the pains of the Kurdish people, their experiences, their hopes, and everything that had accumulated over time.
Through words, poetry, and different fields of production, he existed as a poet, an intellectual, and a program producer. Huseynî gained recognition not only in Rojava but also in other parts of Kurdistan; he was a great poet who bore witness to Kurdish history and expressed the aspirations, joys, and resilience of his people. He had mastery over words, produced works according to the reality of Kurdistan, wrote poetry, and had a creative personality. He was a poet and an intellectual who for years struggled against the many challenges facing the Kurdish language, culture, history, and literature.”
He left a legacy for new generations
Poet Kemal Necim spoke about the life and character of the great poet Ehmed Huseynî with the following words: “Now thousands of Kurds in Rojava and in other parts of Kurdistan should contribute more strongly to Kurdish literature by building on the values created by Ahmed Hüseyni. He was someone who made great efforts, invested labor, and created value in Kurdish history and in Kurdish literature in our last century. He was a friend. A comrade. A poet. He was a child, a woman. Ahmed Hüseyni was a little fire, a little evening, a little resistance, and also an act. Every person who stands on their own roots and draws strength from their own values is valuable and precious. Perhaps he passed away due to illness. In our memory he will always be remembered. And although Hüseyni’s death has deeply affected us, we will continue his dreams and hopes by following the path he walked. We will continue on our path by protecting the love of our people, their lives, their struggle, their resistance, and their history.”
Huseynî’s life was poetic
Poet Kemal Necim also emphasized the poetic nature of Ehmed Huseynî’s life and said: “After the 1990s, he worked extensively on Kurdish culture, poetry, and literature in Kurdish literary circles and media outlets. At a time when the Kurdish people and Kurdish society faced bans and repression, he was engaged in great efforts in Rojava. He produced poetic programs on Roj TV, Med TV, and Ronahî TV. He always spoke about the existence of a people, their historical roots, and the values on which they move forward. Hüseyni was a poet; Hüseyni represented kindness and tolerance, and he built strong social ties among the people.”
