The Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties issued a written statement regarding the deadly attack carried out by Iran against Peshmerga forces in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq earlier today, which claimed the lives of six Peshmerga fighters and left dozens of others injured.
The statement by the Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties reads as follows:
“This morning, the Islamic Republic of Iran carried out two missile attacks on the headquarters of the 7th and 5th battalions of the Kurdistan Region Peshmerga Forces in the Soran district. As a result of this enemy attack, 6 Peshmerga fighters were martyred, while more than 30 Peshmerga fighters, along with many civilians from the Kurdistan Region, were injured.
Missile and drone attacks by the terrorist troops of the Islamic Republic of Iran on bases in Rojhilat Kurdistan, as well as on military and civilian centers in the Kurdistan Region, have continued since the first day of the escalation of the war. Above all, this situation demonstrates the comprehensive hostility of this criminal regime toward the Kurdish people.
As the Alliance of Iranian Kurdistan Political Parties, we extend our condolences to the families of the martyrs and to the people of the Kurdistan Region, as well as to the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and the Kurdistan Region Government. We strongly condemn the attack by the Islamic Republic of Iran and foreign forces within Iraq against the Kurdistan Region. We call on allied countries and the international community to put an end to the hostility of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and to take effective positions against the attacks that violate the political sovereignty of the Kurdistan Region and against the war crimes committed by the Islamic Republic.”
