Khosroabad Complex among dozens of heritage sites damaged in Rojhilat

At least 12 major landmarks in the city of Sanandaj have confirmed damage. Among the most significant are the Salar Saeed Mansion (Sanandaj Archaeological Museum), the Asif Vaziri Mansion (Kurd House), and the Khosroabad historical complex.

The Khosroabad complex—whose central structure is the historic Khosro Abad Mansion and a symbol of Sanandaj’s cultural identity—has reportedly been affected by nearby explosions and blast waves. While full damage assessments are not yet available, early reports indicate structural impacts to parts of the complex.

In Kermanshah, the Tekyeh Biglarbeygi—known for its intricate mirror work—has suffered damage from shrapnel. The historic Kazzazi High School, a registered heritage site, has also been listed among the damaged buildings.

Major heritage sites such as Taq-e Bostan, Bisotun, and the Temple of Anahita have been temporarily closed as a precaution.

The international “Blue Shield” symbol has been placed at these locations to alert military forces and help protect them under international cultural heritage laws.

In Ilam province, the Darreh Shahr Archaeological Museum has also been damaged following attacks in the surrounding area, with parts of the museum and its structures affected.
