Citizens coming from all parts of Van (Wan) entered the area after passing through control points set up at the entrances, many wearing traditional national clothing.
As entrances continued through four different gates, the crowd grew larger with every passing minute, and people danced halay to Kurdish songs rising from the stage. Yellow, red, and green flags filled the area.
On the stage, images of Newroz martyrs were hung together with a photograph of Salih Muslim, who passed away on March 11.
People carried photographs of Leader Apo in the area, and flags belonging to political parties from Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan) also drew attention. The crowd frequently chanted the slogan “Bijî Serok Apo” and expressed messages of support for the people of Rojhilat.
As part of the celebration program, speeches are expected from several figures, including DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, Veysi Aktaş from the Imralı Secretariat, and DEM Party Central Executive Board member Derya Aslan. In addition, Abdullah Öcalan’s Newroz message will be read to the crowd.
During the celebrations, the artists Agirê Jiyan, Koma Rojhilat, Şiyar Berwari, and Hozan Şervan will take the stage and perform for the hundreds of thousands in attendance.
