The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) released a written statement on the occasion of Newroz. In the statement, attention was drawn to the significance of Newroz, which symbolizes freedom, rebirth, and resistance, coinciding with Ramadan Feast, the month of tolerance and forgiveness. It extended holiday greetings to all peoples, especially the Kurdish people, across the four parts of Kurdistan and in different parts of the world.
The statement emphasized that ensuring the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is a fundamental step for establishing lasting peace and stability in the region.
In this context, it reiterated the call for granting the necessary rights so that Öcalan can achieve physical freedom and play an active role in a fair and democratic resolution of the Kurdish question.
The statement noted that Ramadan Feast represents universal human values such as tolerance, love, and solidarity, and expressed the hope that these special days would strengthen feelings of brotherhood among societies.
It also highlighted that this period is an important opportunity to initiate a peace process based on coexistence, away from conflict and division.
At the end of its statement, TEV-DEM called on all national and democratic forces to unite their efforts in order to build a common future based on freedom, justice, and democracy.
