Residents and relatives of detainees gathered at Sebax Junction in the north of the city to Hesekê to receive the group of 300 released detainees released as per the agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian Interim Government.
Those released were registered in Hesekê, Qamishlo, Kobanê, Afrin, Deir ez-Zor, Shaddadi, and Aleppo. These individuals had been captured during attacks by the Turkish state and affiliated armed groups in North and East Syria, particularly during clashes in January.
The welcoming ceremony was attended by Hesekê governor Nureddin Ahmed, deputy commander of the Internal Security Forces Mahmoud Khalil, and Asayish Commander Nesrin Abdullah, along with many local officials, community leaders, and representatives of the Autonomous Administration.
The Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces, through the Internal Security Forces, also handed over a group of detainees to the Syrian Interim Government. These individuals were reportedly captured during recent clashes.
Mahmoud Khalil, Deputy Commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hesekê, had announced earlier the same day that 300 people were released as part of initiatives aimed at resolving the detainee issue.
It was noted that this step was carried out within the framework of implementing the agreement signed on January 29 between the SDF and the Syrian Interim Government. People in the region expect the process to continue, with more detainees released and missing persons returned to their families.
Most recently, on March 10, a group of 100 detainees were released. SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi had previously stated that 1,070 people, including civilians, were being held by the Interim Government.
