MSD: Solution to Afrin question depends on ending Turkish occupation

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) released a statement on the 8th anniversary of the occupation of Afrin.

In its statement, MSD said: “For the Afrin issue to be resolved, Turkey’s occupation and the presence of its affiliated groups must come to an end. The safe and dignified return of displaced people must be ensured, and the region must be returned to its original inhabitants.”

The statement also emphasized that restoring rights and property, and halting imposed demographic and administrative changes, are fundamental conditions for a lasting and just solution.

MSD noted that the recent return of 400 displaced families, within the framework of an agreement between the Syrian Interim Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), is a positive step. However, it stressed that a more comprehensive solution is needed to enable all local people to return to their homes and properties.
