In a statement published on its official website, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) commemorated Salih Muslim, who passed away, and expressed condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Kurdistan.
The PYD statement said: “Welat’s (Shervan Muslim’s) father, Salih Muslim, struggled by putting his life on the line to serve the cause of his people and to protect their legitimate rights. Through years of political and organizational work, he contributed to the building of the values of struggle and freedom.”
The statement emphasized that Muslim left an important mark in the history of the party and the Kurdish national movement, noting that his sacrifice, struggle, and commitment to his cause will continue to live in the memory of his friends and his people.
The PYD added that Muslim’s death is a great loss, but the legacy of struggle he left behind will continue to illuminate the path of resistance.
The statement concluded: “As we bid farewell to this great figure of struggle, we promise our people and our friends that we will continue on the path he opened and carry on his struggle until the goals he believed in are achieved.”
