Drone and missile attacks continue in Southern Kurdistan and Iraq

The war that began on February 28 between the United States–Israel and Iran is spreading further across the region and intensifying. Southern Kurdistan and Iraq are also being affected by these clashes. Since the beginning of the war, many places have been targeted on the grounds of the presence of American bases in Iraq and Southern Kurdistan and armed groups close to Iran. The attacks continued last night.

2 civilians injured

Mount Korek was targeted once again. According to the information obtained, the area around Mount Korek was bombed again last night. This marked the third attack on Mount Korek this week.

In addition, late last night a kamikaze drone crashed in the Westa Receb neighborhood of the Soran Autonomous Administration. According to the information received, two civilians were injured in the incident.

Last night the village of Kewertê in the Çoman district and the village of Dergele in the Wertê area were also bombed.

The previous night, the Çemanke oil wells located near the village of Geverk on the foothills of Mount Gare, on the border of Amediye district in Duhok province, were also targeted by drones. Following the attack, the American oil company HKN Energy, which operates in Southern Kurdistan, decided to halt all its activities in the region.

According to local sources, the company evacuated the site and temporarily suspended oil production in order to ensure the safety of its employees and protect its technical equipment.

“An American warplane crashed in Basra”

The Iraqi Security Media Center announced that a drone attempting to target a facility between the provinces of Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah was shot down last night.

In the statement, it was reported that the drone was brought down at 22:10 while trying to strike a facility. Special teams went to the scene and seized the drone for examination, and no damage occurred in the incident.

In addition, claims circulated last night that an American warplane had crashed in Basra province. The police command issued a statement on the matter.

Without providing details about the cause of the crash, the command stated that police teams were searching for the pilot of the aircraft.
