The Iran Human Rights Network announced that Israel and the United States targeted Evin Prison and Imam Hussein University, located in Iran’s capital Tehran, with rockets in the early morning hours. It was reported that parts of the prison’s walls were destroyed as a result of the attack.
The statement noted that no information could be obtained regarding the damage caused by the attack or about those who may have been harmed, and that the families of the detainees have serious concerns about the condition of their relatives.
The Network further reported that on the first day of the attacks, a state of emergency was declared at Evin Prison, guards abandoned their posts, the prison gates were kept closed, and detainees were left in dangerous conditions.
