Bafel Talabani, Tom Barrack and Mazloum Abdi meet in Dabashan

Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Tom Barrack, the United States Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq, and Mazloum Abdi, General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) met in Dabashan in Sulaymaniyah province on Tuesday.

The meeting, also attended by Qubad Talabani, a senior PUK leadership member, addressed the implementation of the agreement reached on 29 January between the SDF and the Syrian Transitional Government, as well as the removal of obstacles hindering its implementation. The parties emphasized the importance of putting the agreement into practice.

The parties stressed that the administration in Damascus must respect all components of the country. They expressed their commitment to contributing to Syria’s emergence as a constructive actor at both the regional and international levels.

Mazloum Abdi provided assessments of the latest developments in Syria and thanked the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan for its stance and support in the fight against terrorism.

PUK President Bafel Talabani stated that their support for Rojava will continue. He added that they will persist in their efforts to ensure that Syria becomes a country where the rights and representation of all are guaranteed and where the government reflects all segments of society.
