Fire in camp hosting Shengal refugees

Late last night, a fire caused by an electrical short circuit broke out in a section of the Çemmişko camp for Şengal refugees near the city of Zaxo.

As a result of the fire, three tents belonging to refugees were completely destroyed and became unusable. No one lost their life in the incident, but the refugee families suffered serious material losses.

This was the third fire to occur in Êzidî refugee camps during the month of February. In previous fires, there were not only severe material damages but also fatalities.

Problems with the electrical system and the lack of adequate safety measures in the camps endanger the lives of refugees, and every year dozens of families are left homeless due to these fires.
