Thousands of people in Kobanê took to the streets to protest the 15 February conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan. Speaking to ANF, residents of Kobanê emphasized that just as the first conspiracy was thwarted, this attempt will also fail.
A mother named Wedhê Mislim Berces said they have been protesting the conspiracy for 27 years. “We condemn those who had a hand in this conspiracy against our leader, Abdullah Öcalan. Our leader defeated the conspiracy and achieved success. Those who feared his ideas were defeated. Today, we will also defeat this conspiracy, which seeks to destroy us, through Öcalan’s ideas,” she said.
Stating that they will raise their children with Öcalan’s principles, Wedhê Mislim Berces said that a free life is possible. “As the Kurdish people, our ideology and our cause are one. We will remain on Rêber Apo’s [President Abdullah Öcalan] path. We will raise our children with this consciousness. No matter what is done, whether massacres or oppression, we will not abandon our leader’s ideas, and we will win,” she said.
Sebrî Mehmûd stated that the conspiracy targeted Kurdish identity and the will of the Kurdish people. “With the support of dozens of states, they wanted to eliminate the Kurdish people and Rêber Apo. But neither leader Apo nor his people can be destroyed. The Kurdish cause and this movement will continue to exist. Victory will come through leader Apo’s ideas,” he said.
Recalling that the first conspiracy failed, Mehmûd concluded: “That day the conspiracy was foiled and we won. Today, whatever happens, we are ready. We are determined to free our Leader and to stand by his ideas until the end. Just as the first conspiracy was foiled, this conspiracy will be foiled as well.”
