Abdullah Öcalan has been imprisoned on Imrali Island for 27 years. With the emergence of his ideas, thousands of people gathered around this vision and created life out of death. In a statement to ANF, the people of Kobanê said they would achieve success through Öcalan’s ideas.
The conspiracy aimed at eliminating our identity
Elî Omer Ehmed, the father of two martyrs and the brother of another, said that the conspiracy was not only against Öcalan but against all Kurds, and said: “They imposed hundreds of conspiracies on the Kurdish people. By organizing an even greater conspiracy against Leader Apo personally, they wanted once again to destroy and eliminate the Kurdish nation. In Rojava Kurdistan, we face a conspiracy every year. The aim of these conspiracies is to eradicate Kurdish rights and identity.”
Elî Omer Ehmed said that Öcalan built a bridge to success through his ideas, and continued: “Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] revealed before our eyes thought, ideology, education, history, and awareness of identity. Now, as the Kurdish people, we must keep our Leader alive in our lives. We must physically free our Leader. We will walk his path to the end; we will devote ourselves to him. We will raise our newborn children with Leader Apo’s ideas.”
A mother named Xedîca Îmam Elo said that before the emergence of Apoist ideas, their language was banned: “We are from Kobanê. In the past, when we went to cities like Aleppo and Damascus, our language was banned; we were not allowed to learn our own language. We did not know Arabic either. They told us, ‘If you don’t know it, you will remain voiceless.’ But with the emergence of Leader Apo’s ideas, our language and our rights came back to life. We began to work; we did everything secretly. We were blind and unconscious, and with Leader Apo’s emergence, our eyes were opened.”
Xedîca Îmam Elo added that dozens of states took part in the conspiracy and continued: “They wanted to enslave and destroy us, but we stand by our Leader’s ideas. We decided to succeed, and we will succeed. They wanted to enslave and annihilate us, but they could not. Now we exist.”
