A delegation composed of members of UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) and WFP (World Food Programme) visited the northern Syrian city of Kobanê.
The delegation met with representatives of institutions responsible for water, health, electricity, education, the internet, and the economy. They listened to accounts regarding the impact of the siege on the city and the situation of forcibly displaced people. Representatives called on the delegation to closely monitor the situation and take the necessary measures.
After discussions about the conditions in Kobanê, which has been under siege for days, the delegation conducted on-site visits to schools, kindergartens, bakeries, and mosques where forcibly displaced people are being sheltered.
