In the Jisr al-Shughur district of Idlib city in northern Syria, a strike initiated by teachers has expanded to include 113 schools. Teachers are demanding that their salaries be raised in line with rising living costs, warning that if their demands are not met, the education process could be seriously disrupted.
Meanwhile, local residents have also organized mass protests against deficiencies in basic services such as electricity, water, and roads. Demonstrators called on the interim Damascus government to fulfill its responsibilities, demanding solutions to the problems and accountability from those responsible.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) warned that the ongoing strikes and protests could negatively affect the right to education of thousands of children and cautioned that the current situation could further deepen social problems.
