Baluken: National unity foiled the plan targeting Kurds

A public meeting titled “Ji bo Jiyaneke Azad ber bi Yekîtiya Netewî / Toward National Unity for a Free Life” was held in the German city of Bremen. The gathering at the Bremen Democratic Kurdish Community Center opened with a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in Rojava.

Co-chair of the Confederation of Kurdish Communities in Germany (KON-MED) Kerem Gök and politician Idris Baluken took part in the meeting as speakers. The discussions focused on the attacks targeting Rojava since 6 January, the siege of Kobanê, the role of international powers, and the national response developed by the Kurdish people.

Different agendas, one shared decision: The Kurdish genocide

Kerem Gök assessed the attacks targeting Rojava following the agreement signed in Paris. He said the agreement signed on 6 January aimed to establish a new order in the Middle East, adding that the process involved a decision to carry out a massacre of the Kurdish people. Gök stressed that although Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Qatar, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France pursue different agendas, they converge on the objective of a Kurdish genocide, noting that this recalls the 15 February conspiracy.

Gök said the attacks targeting Rojava constitute a concept aimed at the Kurdish people, adding that international powers have given the green light to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and that the Turkish state has coordinated the attacks. He stated that meetings were held with Abdullah Öcalan on 17 January and that letters were sent, adding that the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from certain areas took place as a joint decision by the Kurdistan Regional Government, the SDF, and Abdullah Öcalan.

Gök said the will expressed by the Kurdish people in the streets was also reflected at the negotiating table and that the 30 January agreement emerged because of this resistance. He said, “The policy of denial came to an end with the national spirit, but the threat of annihilation continues. The struggle must continue.”

The spirit of national unity dismantled the political engineering devised in Paris

Politician Idris Baluken opened his remarks by commemorating those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and democracy. He said the forces behind the 15 February conspiracy remain at the center of the current attacks targeting Rojava, adding that the agreement reached in Paris sought to strip the region of its Kurdish presence.

Baluken said the attacks that began in Sheikh Maqsoud (Şêxmeqsûd) and Ashrafiyah (Eşrefiyê) were part of a shock doctrine directed against the Kurdish people, stressing that the Kurdish stance shattered this concept and prevented a potential Kurdish–Arab conflict.

He said that an attempt was made on 18 January to impose capitulation on the Kurds, but that the Kurdish resistance that emerged worldwide thwarted this plan. Baluken added that the spirit of Kurdish national unity, combined with resistance on the ground, dismantled the political engineering devised in Paris.

Baluken referred to the agreement signed on 30 January between the SDF and the interim Syrian government, noting that the text is not flawless but is significant in terms of preventing demographic change and a Kurdish genocide. He said the agreement disrupted demographic plans in regions such as Afrin (Efrîn) and Serêkaniyê and created the conditions for the return of Kurds.

Baluken also drew attention to what he described as coordinated attacks carried out via digital media against leading figures of the Kurdish people and the gains achieved in Rojava, warning that these campaigns form part of a deliberate strategy and that vigilance is required. The public meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session.
