For 16 days, the Turkish state, ISIS, and HTS groups have been besieging Kobanê, where more than 600,000 people live. While the danger to people’s lives continues, medicines cannot be obtained, and there are serious shortages in access to baby formula and food.
Due to ongoing power outages for days, hospitals are unable to provide healthcare services, and residents cannot access fuel for heating or other basic жизнal needs.
An agreement signed on January 30 between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF/QSD) and the Interim Damascus Government came into force as of February 2. Under the agreement, the siege of Kobanê was supposed to be lifted; however, no steps have yet been taken in this direction.
Meanwhile, the Turkish state is not allowing humanitarian aid collected by the people of Northern Kurdistan to enter Kobanê, where the siege continues.
