At the Chamchamal Institute of Fine Arts, various artistic activities were organized in support of the Rojava Kurdistan resistance, with the participation of education officials and students.
The events began with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Rojava Kurdistan resistance and all martyrs of the Kurdish people’s freedom struggle, followed by the singing of the national anthem Ey Reqîb.
Chamchamal Education Director Qasım Eli and Chamchamal Institute of Fine Arts Dean Dara Eli inaugurated the five-meter-long braided hair sculpture created by students and installed in front of the institute building.
Some students of the institute also took part in the solidarity events by reciting poems.
Speaking about the events, Marya Xazî, a student at the Chamchamal Institute of Fine Arts, expressed her feelings with the following words: “We organized several activities to support Rojava Kurdistan. We wanted to convey our message through art. One of these was the creation of a five-meter-long braided hair sculpture.
I can say that braided hair is not merely an ordinary ornament in Kurdish culture. On the contrary, from past to present, Kurdish women have worn it as a symbol of dignity and beauty. When preparing for war, they would braid their hair and throw it back behind them.”
