Delegation from South Kurdistan: The target of the current attacks is not only Rojava

A delegation of the Kurdistan National Stance Movement, including its president, Elî Hemê Salih Taha, travelled to Rojava on January 25 for a series of talks to discuss the latest developments amid the ongoing wave of attacks on the region.

In the city of Qamishlo, the delegation held meetings with Kurdish political parties.

The delegation also paid a visit to the Kurdish Red Crescent Heyva Sor a Kurd and provided medical assistance. The delegation met with displaced people during a visit to the Afrin-Shehba Refugees Council and visited the Martyr Delil Sarûxan Refugee Camp in Qamishlo.

Today, the delegation visited the Democratic Union Party (PYD). Received by PYD Co-Chair Xerîb Hiso, the delegation made a press statement in front of the PYD building.

Speaking here, Xerîb Hiso said: “We discussed the war and conflicts in Syria, the situation of the Kurdish people, and the issue of unity with the delegation.”

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Elî Hemê Salih Taha, President of the Kurdistan National Stance Movement, and a member of parliament, stated the following:

“For several days now, we have been among our people in our country, Rojava. We have held meetings with our friends. We would like to highlight some important points. This war is a national issue. It is nothing other than an attempt to occupy Kurdish lands.

We may be in opposition in Bashur (South Kurdistan), but when the country is in danger, we must all unite. We must stand united against occupation and against those who seek to occupy the lands of Kurdistan. We have seen the fact that the target of this force is not only Rojava. Believe me, if they succeed, they will not stop in Rojava. Their targets are Bashur, Iraq, and their ambitions go even further. For this reason, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region must understand this clearly—and they already do.

Victory belongs to the Kurds and to Kurdistan. A people with a history of thousands of years cannot be destroyed by an aimless force.”
