PACE members express solidarity with Rojava, call for an to the ongoing attacks

As part of the Council of Europe’s session week, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, France, held an action inside the Council of Europe building to support Rojava and condemn the occupation attacks.

The action was organized on the initiative of the PACE Left Group, with the aim of expressing solidarity with Rojava and drawing attention to human rights violations. With the participation of numerous parliamentarians from different countries, the event conveyed a strong message to the international public about the attacks directed at Rojava.

The event was attended by former President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Tiny Kox, French National Assembly member Emmanuel Fernandes, and many PACE parliamentarians. The delegation included representatives from the Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany, Ireland, and Greece, as well as Faik Yağızay, the DEM Party’s representative to the Council of Europe, and Bedran Öztürk, the DEM Party’s diplomatic representative to the Council of Europe.

Holding photographs and placards, the parliamentarians emphasized their solidarity with the people of Rojava. Calling for an end to the attacks by Turkey and jihadist groups, the protection of civilians, and the defense of democratic gains in the region, they stated that European institutions must take more active, concrete, and effective steps on this issue.
