Flour and fuel run low in Kobanê

The Euphrates Canton Economy Council made a statement reporting a shortage of flour and fuel in the northern Syrian city of Kobanê under attack and siege by HTS-ISIS militias and Turkish-backed mercenaries.

The statement, read by Ezîz Ebdî, Co-Chair of the Euphrates Canton Economy Council, included the following:

“We have been under siege and under attack from all sides for nine days. Armed groups are attacking the city, which is surrounded on all fronts. As the Economy Council, we are making every effort to provide all services to our people to the very end. Our people are going through an extremely difficult period. We are trying to assist our people within the limits of our current resources.

Our bakeries continue to operate, and as long as flour is available, we will continue to serve our people. However, due to the extremely heavy siege on Kobanê, supplies of bread flour and fuel have currently decreased. If this situation continues, Kobanê will face a serious crisis.

“We appeal to everyone who stands for freedom: take responsibility for the city of Kobanê and extend a hand because everyone owes Kobanê a debt. In 2014, Kobanê saved the entire world from ISIS. Everyone should support the people of Kobanê, and this war must be stopped immediately. Otherwise, the people of the city will face major crises. Everyone must stand by Kobanê.”
