The Mersin Democratic Institutions Platform protested the attacks by ISIS–HTS militias against Rojava with a public statement in the Tarsus district of Mersin.
After the statement, young people continued their protest by moving into the side streets of the Gazipaşa neighborhood. Police attacked the protesters. At the same time, an armed attack was carried out against the group in the side streets by a person named H. K., an MHP member registered in Siverek. As a result of the attacker’s random gunfire, Baran Abdî from Kobanê, who was visiting his aunt, was seriously injured. Abdî was shot in the head while he was on a balcony and died at the hospital where he was taken.
