DAANES: Military threat continues despite the ceasefire

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) issued a statement regarding the latest situation on the ground after the ceasefire reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Interim Damascus Government.

The statement noted that the ceasefire has been extended; however, the Interim Damascus Government claimed that this step was taken under the pretext of transferring ISIS members.

“These claims by the government clearly demonstrate that the military option and further attacks on the region remain on the table, and that threats against the people and the region continue,” the statement said and called on the public to remain at the highest level of alert and to take the necessary security precautions.

The statement went on to call on the Kurdish people and their friends in all four parts of Kurdistan and abroad to continue their actions. It said that Kobanê remains under siege and that the people continue their resistance against the genocidal war waged against them.

DAANES emphasized that the unity of the people and the spirit of resistance form the foundation of their ability to withstand all challenges. The Autonomous Administration noted that it has informed both the public and the international community of its readiness for peace and dialogue, recalling that the people of Syria have faced immense hardships due to long and arduous wars.
