Women in Hamburg and Düsseldorf submit files about Rojava to MPs and media

Members of the Rojbîn Women’s Council and internationalist women in Hamburg provided information and submitted dossiers on the situation in Rojava to German members of parliament and media organizations. The seven-page file prepared under the title “War Against the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria” was compiled by the European Kurdish Women’s Movement (TJK-E) and the Women Defend Rojava campaign.

Women activists visited numerous offices and institutions in three groups. Among those visited were the Hamburg offices of German Federal Parliament members Falko Drossmann (SPD) and Thorsten de Vries (CDU). Meeting with the advisor of SPD MP Drossmann, activist Anja Flach and Hamburg People’s Assembly co-chair Fatma Doğan explained the situation in Rojava and called for urgent intervention.

The women also visited the Hamburg offices of German media outlets NDR, Bild, Welt, ZDF, Spiegel, Abendblatt, dpa, Zeit, and Mopo, calling for the war in Rojava to be placed on the public agenda. Following the visits, the women announced that they would join a protest demonstration starting today at 17:00 at Hachmannplatz.

Meeting with SPD member of parliament Helge Lindh

Representatives of TJK-E Düsseldorf met with SPD MP Helge Lindh. During the meeting, where the ongoing attacks on Rojava were discussed, Lindh was asked to raise the issue of Rojava in the German Federal Parliament and to ensure that the human rights violations taking place are made known at the international level.

Expressing his satisfaction with the meeting, Helge Lindh stated that he is closely following developments in Rojava. Emphasizing that the struggle waged by Kurdish women against ISIS has been an example to the world, Lindh stressed that this resistance must be supported and that Rojava must be defended. The nearly two-hour meeting concluded with messages of mutual understanding and solidarity.
