People of Kobanê resist siege and heavy attacks

Because of the siege on Kobanê by gangs of ISIS, HTS, and the Turkish state, along with the ongoing brutal attacks, serious problems in accessing humanitarian needs have begun to emerge across the city. The electricity, water, and internet cuts that started on Wednesday are continuing, and people are unable to meet their daily needs.

YPJ–YPG and SDF forces are repelling the gangs’ attacks on Kobanê’s rural areas with strong responses. The humanitarian situation is worsening in the Hemdaşê area in the west of the city, where attacks have intensified, as well as in the villages of Quba, Ceada, Hemdor, Xan Memdid, Çelabiyê, and the town of Sirrin.

Activists sharing information from the area warned that if the siege continues, the dangers to the lives of thousands of civilians will increase, and called on the international community and humanitarian aid organizations to intervene quickly to stop the attacks and support the people of Kobanê.

Despite all the difficulties, the people of Kobanê said that their resistance will continue and that they will not allow the gangs to enter the city. The committees and communes of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Kobanê continue their efforts to meet the needs of the people with the means available to them.
