SDF: Damascus-affiliated factions cut off water to Al-Aqtan Prison in Raqqa

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Center said in a statement that “after besieging al-Aqtan Prison north of Raqqa and carrying out direct shelling of its buildings and facilities, Damascus-affiliated factions have proceeded to cut off water supplies to the prison, which holds detainees from the ISIS terrorist organization. This has caused a severe water shortage, in addition to a significant lack of food and medical supplies.”

The statement added: “These practices constitute a blatant violation of humanitarian standards and pose a serious threat to the lives of the detainees. We hold Damascus fully responsible for any humanitarian or security repercussions resulting from this measure, and we call on international organizations to intervene urgently to ensure the provision of the prison’s basic needs.”
