More than 300 displaced families arrive in Derik

As armed groups affiliated with the interim government, supported by the occupying Turkish state, continue their attacks on many areas of Northern and Eastern Syria, particularly the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah, civilians continue to be forcibly displaced.

Since yesterday, more than 300 families displaced from Raqqa, Tabqa, and the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods have reached the city of Derik in the Jazira Canton. It has been reported that the number of forcibly displaced families is increasing by the hour. The displaced families have been housed in schools, mosques, and the Newroz Camp in Derik.

It was stated that the displaced families are facing a severe humanitarian crisis, while service institutions affiliated with the Autonomous Administration in Derik are attempting to identify and meet the families’ needs.

Silêman Ehmed from Afrin, who arrived at the Newroz Camp from Tabqa, said that the situation of the displaced families is very difficult and that this is the fourth time he has experienced displacement. Ehmed called on world governments and the people of Kurdistan to take action to stop the attacks against Kurds and the forced displacement.
