In North and East Syria, people took to the streets against the increasingly ongoing attacks by the Turkish state and Damascus-affiliated mercenary groups.
Responding to the Autonomous Administration’s call for mobilization, the people in Cizire Canton staged a march in Qamishlo to show their support for the resistance led by the SDF and YPJ.
Women, young people, the elderly, and children participated in the march from Sewame Junction to Efrîn Junction, with the mothers of martyrs and fighters at the forefront.
Citizens participating in the march said that they would not back down from resistance to the attacks.
‘We are not afraid of Erdoğan’s tanks or planes’
Citizen Fikriye Reşîd highlighted the determination of the people, saying: “Today we must defeat the enemy so that they know the Kurdish people will never be defeated. Today, if asked, we will take up arms and stand alongside our children. We are not afraid of Erdoğan’s tanks or planes. Even if we have only one day left to live, we will always stand by our children and our defense forces. We will take our rights ourselves. We will remain in action until our country is liberated. Where are the international powers? They have been here for so many years, what have they done for us? We no longer rely on anyone; we will take our rights into our own hands.”
‘We will liberate our country’
Another citizen, Şaha Mihemed, stated that they would continue to stand with the SDF-YPJ and Internal Security Forces, expressing their determination to bring the struggle to a victorious conclusion: “We will liberate our country, we will defeat ISIS and al-Jolani. The Kurdish people are standing together today, and we will resist until the end.”
‘You cannot defeat the SDF’
Ayşe Mihemed, a mother, emphasized that people were in high morale despite the attacks. Saluting the resistance of the SDF, YPJ and Asayish forces, she said: “Al-Sharaa’s armed groups attacked us with tanks and artillery, but we were not defeated. Our forces are resisting with their weapons and are not backing down; our morale is high. We stand for our children who were killed by the al-Sharaa government. We say to those mercenaries: you cannot defeat the SDF, the SDF is strong. Let the whole world know who we are.”
Banners and placards carried throughout the march called for the defense of the peoples’ common will to live together and for Democratic Autonomous Administration. Participants emphasized that the attacks were not only military but also targeted the will of the peoples in the region. They vowed that resistance would continue not only on the front lines but also in the social sphere.
