Protests continue in Rojhilat and Iran: Thousands of demonstrators killed

Since 28 December 2025, people have taken to the streets in many cities across Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan in protest against the economic crisis, political repression, and social problems. Despite all attacks and repression by the Iranian regime, the protests are spreading more widely each day.

The demonstrations are ongoing across 31 provinces, 187 cities, and 619 settlements throughout Rojhilat Kurdistan and Iran. It has been reported that 55 universities have also joined the protests.

In addition to cities in Rojhilat Kurdistan, protest marches, actions, and public resistance continue in many cities across Iran despite all attempts by regime forces to suppress them. Meanwhile, many security forces and units of the Revolutionary Guards have withdrawn from city centers, while shops, bazaars, and public spaces have been closed.

According to local sources, Iranian forces opened fire on protesters in Kirmaşan, Ilam, Lorestan, and Bakhtiyari in Rojhilat Kurdistan. As a result of the gunfire, at least two Kurdish youths were reportedly killed.

Media outlets affiliated with the Iranian regime broadcast images of 115 protesters, forcing them—through torture and pressure—to describe the protests as an “uprising.” The regime’s campaign of detention and arrests has not been limited to the streets; dozens of people have also been summoned to security institutions and threatened.

The shutdown of the internet and communication lines continues across Iran and Rojhilat Kurdistan. Despite this, regime forces continue to raid homes identified as having access to communication networks.

According to footage shared on digital media, thousands of families who went to official institutions to identify the bodies of their relatives expressed their anger at the Iranian regime.

According to data from the Human Rights Organization HRANA, 22,123 protesters were detained over the course of 21 days.

The same source reported that 3,906 protesters were killed as a result of attacks by Iranian security forces, including at least 19 children under the age of 18. In addition, nearly 3,000 protesters are reported to have been injured so far.
