The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Media Center issued a statement warning against the Interim Government’s claims regarding the situation on the Deir Hafer front.
The SDF statement on Monday includes the following:
“Our forces are monitoring the misleading statements issued by the Ministry of Defense of the Damascus government regarding the field situation in the vicinity of Maskana and Deir Hafer. We confirm that there are no military movements or troop buildups by our forces in the aforementioned areas, and that all the circulating claims are baseless.
On the contrary, the current field movements are primarily carried out by the Damascus government’s own factions.
The repetition of these claims by the Ministry of Defense for the second time constitutes an attempt to create tension and fabricate pretexts for escalation. We hold those behind this fully responsible for any potential repercussions.
We warn against continuing this inflammatory approach and reaffirm our commitment to de-escalation, while reserving our legitimate right to take whatever measures are necessary to defend the area and protect civilians.”
