YPJ: Women’s defense forces will never step back

The General Command of the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) released a statement regarding the inhumane treatment carried out by gangs of the Syrian Transitional Government against the funeral of a fighter who was a member of the Sheikh Maqsoud Internal Security Forces.

The statement published on the YPJ website reads as follows: “The Women’s Internal Security Forces have so far demonstrated an unprecedented resistance in the battle for Aleppo against the gangs of the HTS Transitional Government and the jihadist mentality supported by the Turkish state.

In the revolution in North and East Syria, women who seek freedom have repeatedly become a source of fear and terror for a bloodthirsty enemy. Despite all inhumane attacks, vengeful women have never bowed their heads to the mentality of power. In the culture of North and East Syria and the Middle East, a woman’s honor is the honor of the people. For this reason, occupying gangs seek to break the people’s hopes through their immoral practices.

According to the information shared, an inhumane act was carried out against the body of a fighter from the Internal Security Forces. This approach is not new; in the face of such barbaric methods, our women and our people have never been afraid and have possessed the strength to build their freedom.

The Women’s Defense Forces have never stepped back from this mentality and never will. We once again commemorate the resistance of Barin Kobanê, Amara Rênas, and Amargî Çiya. These pioneering fighters chose resistance despite all savage attacks against humanity. Today, fighters of the Internal Security Forces are walking the same path.

As YPJ, we see ourselves as responsible for the defense of all women in Syria and around the world. We strongly condemn these inhumane acts. We call on everyone to stand against all actions that violate the honor of women and peoples, and to keep alive the legacy of all the martyrs of the revolution, and of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves in Aleppo, Dilbirîn, Faraşîn, Denîz, Rojbîn, and Hawar, so that resistance may achieve victory.”
