In a statement regarding the increasingly ongoing protests in Iran, the Free Women’s Community of Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR) sharply criticized the authoritarian policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized that the solution lies in meeting the people’s demands with a democratic mindset.
KJAR pointed out that women have historically fought against the dominant power mentality in Iran, which, however, has responded to crises with an anti-democratic approach rather than resolving them. It noted that the Iranian regime has deepened its policies of repression and coercion rather than paving the way for solutions to problems.
The statement pointed out that Iranian society faces multifaceted crises due to the racist and monolithic ideology of the regime, which hinders the development of democratic politics and leads to instability not only within Iran but also across the Middle East.
KJAR emphasized that as the economic, political, and social crises have led to mass protests, the Iranian regime has resorted to all forms of illegitimate methods to maintain its power in the face of these actions. The regime has not refrained from its policies of arrest, torture, and execution, and is trying to intimidate society through fear, it added.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is promoting a security narrative and further increasing militarism in order to legitimize its attacks on protesters and the legitimate demands of society. It is imposing military methods instead of resolving the issues.”
KJAR pointed out that Iran is not only in a political and social crisis, but also in a deep economic crisis. The regime, it said, has faced international backlash due to its misguided and authoritarian stance in foreign policy, and the reimposed sanctions have further worsened the living conditions of the people.
The statement noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has placed all its economic and financial resources at the service of the Revolutionary Guards’ military policies, emphasizing that military budgets have been increased under the pretext of “defense,” with the cost being borne directly by the people. It remarked that these policies have led to growing anger and resentment among the people.
According to KJAR, the wave of protests and uprisings that began in many Iranian cities on December 28, 2025, continues due to the continuation of current policies. Recalling that protests in Iran have historically been continuous, KJAR noted that the current uprising represents a new phase that is unique and must be embraced, considering regional conditions.
The statement emphasized that the Iranian government can no longer suppress these uprisings due to the deep internal crises it has created. The solution lies in listening to and meeting the people’s demands with a democratic mindset, it added.
“If these issues are not resolved through democratic means, the Iranian people have the power and consciousness to determine their own destiny. The most democratic path is for the people to reach the power to make decisions and exercise self-governance according to their own understanding.”
KJAR called for the resistance in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan to be strengthened on the basis of democratic consciousness, emphasizing that the struggle for the freedom of women and peoples will continue.
