Memorial and protest events are continuing across Europe in memory of the Kurdish activists killed in Paris. Masses are paying tribute to Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan, and Leyla Şaylemez, three representatives of the Kurdish movement, who were shot dead on January 9, 2013 in Paris’ 10th arrondissement, and Kurdish revolutionary Emine Kara (Evîn Goyî), artist Mîr Perwer, and activist Abdurrahman Kızıl, who were shot dead by a Frenchman on Rue d’Enghien in Paris’s 10th arrondissement on December 23, 2022.
This year’s commemoration and protest events began on December 23 under the slogan “Justice for Truth.” The events will culminate in a march at Paris Gare du Nord Square on January 10. The march will end at République Square, to be followed by a protest rally.
The organizing committee held its final meeting with all members present. At the meeting, it was announced that preparations had been completed and that grassroots efforts would continue until the final day.
In this context, Kurdish women living in Europe, primarily in France, as well as Kurds from Kurdistan and supportive communities, were called upon to participate in and embrace the action.
