Turkish police teams carried out operations against ISIS in several cities last night. Armed clashes erupted during the operation in Yalova province in western Turkey last night.
During the course of the operation, which began at 2:00 a.m and was finalized at 9:40 a.m., ISIS members opened fire on security forces. As a result of the armed confrontation, three police officers were killed and eight others were injured, along with a watchman.
Five women and six children in the house where the fighting broke out were safely evacuated.
In his statement about the operation in Yalova, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that 137 people had been arrested and 97 others placed under judicial control in the last month as part of operations against ISIS. Yerlikaya said that simultaneous operations had been carried out at 108 separate addresses in 15 provinces as part of these efforts and that the operation in Yalova was part of this security campaign.
