Militants affiliated with the Syrian transitional government once again attacked the Sheikh Maqsood (Şêxmeqsûd) and Ashrafiyah (Eşrefiyê) neighborhoods of Aleppo last night. Following the attack, the Aleppo Internal Security Forces published footage related to the assault on the checkpoint outside the Şihan junction and issued a written statement.
The statement said: “These published images clearly show that groups connected to the Damascus government attacked an Internal Security Forces checkpoint located near the Şihan junction in Aleppo using RPG rockets. The footage definitively refutes claims that the attack was initiated by our forces.”
On 22 December 2025, groups affiliated with the Syrian transitional government attacked the Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods, resulting in the killing of one woman and the wounding of 19 civilians and 6 members of the Internal Security Forces. Following the clashes, a ceasefire was declared through the mediation of some parties. However, it is reported that groups linked to the transitional government have not complied with the ceasefire and continue their violations.
