Heavy rainfall and flooding in South Kurdistan over the past few days have resulted in loss of life and significant material damage. Five people lost their lives in the floods and many more were injured, while several homes and cars were submerged.
The Kurdish Women’s National Unity Platform has called for a relief campaign for the people of South Kurdistan affected by the flood disaster: “A major flood disaster has struck South Kurdistan; 5 citizens lost their lives, 1,500 families were affected, and 500 families lost their homes. We pray for mercy for those who lost their lives and offer our condolences to their families.”
Calling for the launch of an aid campaign for the people of South Kurdistan, the Platform said: “In these dark and disastrous days, no one is alone and no one should be left alone. All those affiliated with the Kurdish Women’s National Unity Platform in all parts of Kurdistan should launch a campaign. We are confident that this issue will be approached with sensitivity in all four parts of Kurdistan.”
