Cewad Merwanî wrote the lyrics and music for a song inspired by guerrilla Farqîn’s life and struggle. Merwanî said that the song bears this name because “at one time guerrilla Farqîn used the name Dilşêrîn. For this reason, I gave the song the name Dilşêrîn.”
Merwanî added: “Comrade Dilşêrîn was from the village of Zinzinê in Farqîn’s region. He was the only child of his family. He remained in the guerrilla for 3.5 years. He struggled in Dêrsim together with comrade Atakan Mahîr. When he was martyred, he was 23 years old.”
Hebûn Farqîn fell a martyr on 21 May 2018. However, his body was not delivered to his family. His mother’s months-long vigil in front of the Forensic Medicine Institute in an attempt to receive her son’s body deeply affected artist Merwanî. Moved by the trauma of this process and the impact of the mother’s struggle, Merwanî wrote a special work for Farqîn.
Cewad Merwanî described the process of writing and preparing the work as follows: “Writing the song took 1–1.5 years. You think about the future and history, you want it to be literary and lasting. You want the music not to resemble other works. For this reason, it takes a long time when I write and compose songs. After finishing the lyrics and music, I recorded it in Cologne at my friend Memo Gül’s studio. Memo Gül also did the arrangement. Then we moved on to the recording. We sang it in the recording with Binevş Roj, Zozan Zudem, Gulîstan, Bêrîvan and Yeşim İncedursun. We shot the video clip together with Binevş Roj, Zozan Zudem and Gulistan.”
The “Dilşêrîn” clip was filmed by Med Huner Production staff and published on the Med Huner YouTube channel.
