Six MPs’ mandates revoked in Iraq

Hasan Selman, legal adviser of the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq, spoke to Iraqi media about the revocation of some MPs’ mandates.

Hasan Selman stated that since the elections, the number of elected parliamentary candidates whose mandates have been revoked has reached six.

It was reported that the mandates were revoked as a result of the evaluation of objections and appeals.

Hasan Selman noted that due to the changes made, one party lost a parliamentary seat, and that as a result of a change in the women’s quota in Mosul, one seat was transferred to another list.

Hasan Selman did not disclose the names of the candidates whose mandates were revoked, stating that the process was proceeding within the legal framework.

Before and after the 6th term parliamentary elections in Iraq held on November 11, many parliamentary candidates were dismissed by the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq for various reasons.
